Episode 2: Parenting before and during the inner work with Poppy

In this episode, we chat to Poppy Kealeboga Chelopo, a mother of three to a 13-year-old, a 10-year-old and a 1-year-olds.
She talks about how her parenting style changed when she raised her 2 kids (before she started the healing journey) and how she now parents differently.
She left her 9-5 job to pursue her interests as a Freelancer / Consultant in the HR field.
This was influenced by her wanting to work flexible hours so that she can be more at home with the kids.
There’s nothing wrong to climb the corporate ladder but it was important to her to thrive as an individual and still be a visible mother to her kids.
Poppy got a wake-up call when her boss in corporate was doing homework with her kids over the phone due to high demanding job and extensive travel.
She then decided there then that if she want a different life for her kids, she has to find ways to still earn money but work flexible hours so that she can manage to do homework, attend kids' sports/ extramural activities events etc.
All of this thinking came before she got exposed to stay at home /mompreneurs concept.
Talk about what you looking for is looking for you, she then started seeing businesswomen with similar ideas. Then she got exposed to inner work and she further realised that she loves being both a “present” mom and also earning income and achieving financially too, and that she doesn’t have to choose between the two hence she opted to consult while also having more time with the kids.
Doing inner work daily makes Poppy realise that she is on the right track and she is happy with the balance between family and work life. Now she is concentrating on ways to build her family wealth by building multiple streams of income as she understands that she can’t consult forever.
Now that the kids which were her worry and didn’t want to “guilt parent” as that’s how she felt while working hard and coming home tired and at night some days while the kids were sleeping, plus being away for days travelling sometimes, that she is not giving her kids enough time.
She could afford to buy them anything they wanted but less time and that made her feel guilty. In her journey of parenting, she met mothers who had the same vision and now she knows what she wanted for her kids was normal and not just a crazy idea.

Ms Neo Evodia Nare is the host of The GenieCoach podcast.
Professionally she is a western trained mental health practitioner who is called to an African way of healing and preserving the genie souls (4-10 years young.)
