In this episode we talk to Roxane Maar. Roxane is originally from Denmark but is currently residing in Portugal with her family. She shared with us that parenting has given her a different perspective on what being a parent means and that she did not know a lot about parenting until she became a parent herself. She also mentioned that she strongly believes in justice being served and that when she sees injustice she gets really triggered, however being a parent came with a lot of unfairness and she had to learn to deal with that. At first she thought if she had a full proof plan on how to go about her parenting journey things will workout perfectly but instead she learned that she can't control everything. Roxane shared that her childbirth experience was not a pleasant one and that led to her altering the plans that she initially had. One of which was going back to work full time but instead she had to resign after a year because she wanted to be fully present for her genie. This was a culture shock in her society because she was a business owner and society expected her to take her genie to childcare and continue working. Roxane shared that she thinks genies are magical beings and that we can learn a lot from them. She shared that before she became a parent everything was about her and that she was very selfish but her genies taught her to self sacrife and that not everything is about her. She says that before she had her genies she was living a non committed life but now she is committed and present at all times. Yummy Quotes from this episode: In order to change nothing you need to change everything. Saying that everything else is bad is not acknowledging learning's from others and their work.
